" Talladega Race Review"

Rain and more rain. The Nascar Cup Series visited Talladega Superspeedway located in Lincoln, Alabama for the “Yellawood 500”.  Bubba Wallace in a shocker made history by winning today. This is Wallace’s first win of the season and first win of his career. He also makes history by becoming the first African American since Wendell Scott in 1963, to win a Nascar Cup Series race.

This weekend was rough, rain threatened all weekend long. Sunday when the race was supposed to happen it rained out. Nascar officials tried to dry the track and postponed yesterday’s race to today at 1:00pm eastern. This didn’t help many people, with it being a normal Monday, school and work played a factor for a lot of people. So tomorrow when Nascar’s TV ratings come in from today, they will most likely be low. But that didn’t stop an interesting race.

How Wallace won is a different story, rain threatened today’s finish once again. Nascar officials called today’s race after rain threatened just as stage two was coming to an end. Nascar told drivers, fans and teams that if the race reached lap 94 the race was official no matter what. Meaning, if rain came after lap 94, Nascar would do their best to dry the track; but if not the race was over. This is exactly what happened, when the caution came out Wallace was leading by 0. 258 of a second. This shows you any separation at a given time could maybe decide a race if you are lucky.

In my opinion today was solid. The overall hype around Talladega was deflated a little bit because of the rain over the weekend. The only thing I have an issue with is Nascar planning today’s race at 1:00pm on a Monday. I understand you can’t control the weather but, at 1:00pm on a Monday everyones at work or school. But after seeing a first time winner and a non playoff driver steal a win, this was a pretty good makeup after yesterday. Overall I would give today’’s race a 8.5 out of 10.

This Charlotte Roval! The Nascar Cup Series to Charlotte Motor Speedway located in Charlotte, North Carolina for the “ Bank of America ROVAL 400”. This is a 17 turn beast and this is the cutoff line for the next round. After a day at Talladega, with weather, a surprise winner and drama the gloves come off and it’s showtime. With one race left in the round of 12 this will be must see TV. Tune in Sunday, October 10th at 2:00pm for the Charlotte Roval only on NBC.
