Las Vegas 2 Race Review and Analysis

One final time in Vegas for 2022!  The Nascar Cup Series paid its final visit to Las Vegas Motor Speedway for the 2022 season.  Joey Logano, in a dominant weekend, takes home the checkered flag.  Logano locks himself into the Championship 4 and collects his 3rd win of the 2022 season.  Logano also collects his 30th career win.

Today we saw it all.  We saw Chase Briscoe struggle for most of the day, then almost win in the final 20 laps. The stage 1 winner was Bubba Wallace. Kyle Busch spun in stage 1, followed by a tire issue coming off of the pit road on the final pit stop of the afternoon.  Busch then miraculously came back to finish 3rd. Bubba Wallace got run up into the wall by Kyle Larson while battling for position.  Wallace then retaliated, and spun Larson intentionally in front of the field, on the straightaway. Wallace also displayed his anger with Larson, by pushing him after all had settled.  This move collected Christopher Bell, who is fighting for a spot in the Championship 4.  Bell’s day was over, along with Wallace, and Larson’s days. Wallace should deserve a penalty, and definitely, a suspension should be on the table as a result. Nascar will review the entire situation, and most likely have a verdict come later this week. Ryan Blaney was the stage 2 winner. Blaney later spun in the final stage, after a tire went down.  After a promising afternoon, Daniel Suarez Suarez spun after Tyler Reddick cleared high of the #99’s nose.

When it comes to the playoff field, we’ve seen quite the shakeup.  Joey Logano clinches his spot for Phoenix.  Ross Chastain comes home 2nd for Trackhouse Racing.  Chase Briscoe finishes 4th for Stewart-Haas Racing.  Denny Hamlin crosses the line 5th for Joe Gibbs Racing.  William Byron comes home 13th for Hendrick Motorsports.  Chase Elliott struggled for most of today’s race, he finished 21st for Hendrick Motorsports. Ryan Blaney comes in 28th for Team Penske.  Christopher Bell scored 34th for Joe Gibbs Racing.

When it comes to non-playoff drivers, Tyler Reddick finished 6th for Richard Childress Racing.  Erik Jones is in 8th for Petty GMS Motorsports.  A.J. Allmendinger crosses the line 9th for Kaulig Racing.  Tenth place belongs to Austin Dillon, also of Richard Childress Racing.  Honorable mentions go out to Noah Gragson in 11th for Hendrick Motorsports.  Along with Kevin Harvick in 12th of Stewart-Haas Racing, followed by William Byron in 13th for Hendrick Motorsports, and Justin Haley in 14th for Kaulig Racing. Finally, Chris Buescher finished 15th for RFK Racing.

In my opinion, today was wild.  We saw just about everything today in Las Vegas. Two more races remain before the championship race in Phoenix.  Taking all action into consideration I’d rate today’s race a 9.4 out of 10.
