Today was rough, Cautions, heat, threatening rain and a worn out race track all threatened today’s competition. But the race still carried on, Nascar took a 10 minute track maintenance break, to repair a chipped piece of asphalt on the racing surface. After the break, the race resumed. Kurt Busch then went on to pass his brother in the closing laps to win.

Let’s talk about the significance of this win. With this win, Kurt Busch is the final winner in Atlanta Motor Speedway before it’s repave this fall. This win is highlighted in the record books, because Atlanta hasn’t been repaved in 25 years. Another reason why this win is so valuable, is because of the playoff standings. Kurt Busch before this race was hovering right around the cutoff line. He was in striking distance this whole time, but with ups and downs each week this has hurt his chances in ways. Now with a win he is officially locked into the playoffs. Leaving his team with no worries for the next 5 races.
