" Michigan Race Review"

What a dramatic finish! The Nascar Cup Series visited Michigan International Speedway, located in Brooklyn, Michigan for the “ FireKeepers Casino 400”. Ryan Blaney wins in a nail biter last lap. This is Blaney’s 2nd win of the 2021 season and his 6th of his career. This is also Blaney’s first season with multiple wins in a single season.

(Ryan Blaney post race)

The final laps of today’s race were wild. The caution came out leading to the choose rule, along with a restart. The “choose rule” is where all drivers get to pick where they want to restart, whether it’s the top or bottom lane. All of the drivers in front of Blaney chose the top, leaving the bottom open for Blaney. This rule implemented by Nascar, gives drivers the choice of the preferred lane or track position. Blaney then proceeded to pick track position, putting him in second place next to William Byron. He then went on to hold off Byron and 3rd place Larson for the race win.

In my opinion today’s race was above average. There were ups and downs today, but that’s ok. This race was won by decision making, this made this afternoon’s race better. Blaney edged out Byron by 0.77 hundredths for the win. Overall I would give today's race a 7.5 out of 10. But what’s better is this week's storyline, the regular season finale is here. Week 26, the final race before the 2021 playoffs.

(A Quick look at the playoff standings heading in to Daytona)

Daytona International Speedway, is where the regular season started and is where it will end. There is one playoff spot left and only one race left. This is anyone’s game, anyone can take the race win. Any driver that is currently out of the playoffs that is full time, can lock themselves in with a win at Daytona this weekend. The Nascar Cup Series will visit Daytona International Speedway located in Daytona Beach, Florida, for the "Coke Zero Sugar 400". Saturday under the lights, one last time before the playoffs. This is a 2.5 mile beast that brings speeds up to 205 miles an hour. Drivers will be desperate and this race will bring chaos. Tune in Saturday August 28th, 7:00pm only on NBC.
