" Watkins Glen Race Review"

Watkins Glen! The Nascar Cup Series visited Watkins Glen International, for the “Go Bowling at the Glen”, in Watkins Glen, New York. Kyle Larson takes home the win after a two week break for the Olympics. This is his 5th win of the 2021 season and his 11th of his career. Making the regular season championship against Denny Hamlin even closer.

Today was interesting to say the least. Covid 19 stopped 2020’s race at Watkins Glen due to a surge in New York. But today was a breath of fresh air for many. Not being at a track since 2019 and finally seeing a race at this venue is pretty special. Today’s action involves a lot. Wrecks, threatening rain all weekend, pit strategy and upset drivers.

This all unfolded under 90 laps. In my opinion Today’s race was above Average. Most of this answer comes from the fact fans haven’t seen a race at Watkins Glen since 2019. The racing product itself was average, some things stood out today and some didn’t. So overall I give today’s race a 7.5 out of 10.

As the weeks roll on, the playoffs are approaching fast. As of right now we are on week 23 out of 26. 3 weeks left until the Nascar Playoffs, Intensity ramps up and the disparity rate as well. But the Nascar Cup Series heads to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course, located in Indianapolis, Indiana for the “ Verizon 200 at the Brickyard”. This is a brand new track for the Cup Series so Practice and Qualifying are back this weekend. Let’s see who makes the cut, tune in Sunday, August 15th at 1:00pm only on NBC.
