"Richmond Race Review"

What a night! The Nascar Cup Series visited Richmond Raceway located in Richmond, Virginia, for the “ Federated Auto Parts 400 Salute to the First Responders”. Martin Truex wins on the 20th anniversary of 9/11. Truex dominated the back half of the race to collect his 4th win of the season and 1st of the 2021 playoffs. With this win, Truex locks himself into the round of 12 and advances to the second round of the 2021 playoffs.

Today was tough for a lot of people. On the 20th anniversary of 9/11, people had heavy hearts throughout today. Nascar showcased a great pre race ceremony paying their respects to the first responders and the lives lost in those attacks. This race was tough for a lot of drivers as well, breaks, tires and pit road issues all made it hard for drivers tonight. Denny Hamlin dominated all night, he won stages 1 and 2. But with late race green flag stops, this put Kyle Busch in the lead, but he was busted for speeding on pit road. With Truex in the catbird seat, he pulled off from Hamlin for the race win.

In my opinion tonight was good. Personally, Nascar did a great job with the 9/11 tribute and put on a pretty solid race. Drama is starting to heat up and alot changed after tonight. Some drivers must win and some don’t have to. Bristol is next week, so things will get interesting. So overall after 4 hours of racing, I’d give tonight a 8 out of 10. Due to the storylines following this race and the overall racing itself.

“It’s bristol baby!” The cut off for round one of the Nascar playoffs is here. Only 12 drivers will advance and it will be settled at Bristol Motor Speedway. Located in Bristol, Tennessee, this is the “ Last Great Colosseum”. For 500 laps, drivers will be put to the test. With one race to go until the round of 12 at Las Vegas, we will see who comes out on top. This is the first time we will see the cup cars on regular concrete instead of dirt. We will see what happens next. Tune in  Saturday, under the lights at 7:30pm for the “Bass Pro Shops Night Race” cut off special at Bristol Motor Speedway only on NBCSN.
