"Daytona Race Review"

Image
A Saturday night thriller! The Nascar Cup Series raced under the lights at Daytona International Speedway located in Daytona Beach, Florida, for the “ Coke Zero Sugar 400”. Ryan Blaney for the second week in a row wins in a wild last lap. This is Blaney’s 3rd win of the 2021 season and 7th of his career. This win gives Blaney and the 12 team great momentum heading into the playoffs. (Blaney post race) Today’s race was untamed, from TV network issues, to playoff drama, to ferocious wrecks and more. Race fans have seen it all today. First, let's take a dive into TV drama, today was awful for TV scheduling. Nascar had a weekend where tonight’s race was going to be nationally televised. All fans were informed by NBCSN broadcasters, that pre race coverage for the race was switching to its regular slot on NBC from 7:00 to 11:00. That didn’t happen, a good percent of people could not view the race for two hours due to Pre Season football. Meaning in the time slot Nascar was supposed to

What a dramatic finish! The Nascar Cup Series visited Michigan International Speedway, located in Brooklyn, Michigan for the “ FireKeepers Casino 400”. Ryan Blaney wins in a nail biter last lap. This is Blaney’s 2nd win of the 2021 season and his 6th of his career. This is also Blaney’s first season with multiple wins in a single season. (Ryan Blaney post race) The final laps of today’s race were wild. The caution came out leading to the choose rule, along with a restart. The “choose rule” is where all drivers get to pick where they want to restart, whether it’s the top or bottom lane. All of the drivers in front of Blaney chose the top, leaving the bottom open for Blaney. This rule implemented by Nascar, gives drivers the choice of the preferred lane or track position. Blaney then proceeded to pick track position, putting him in second place next to William Byron. He then went on to hold off Byron and 3rd place Larson for the race win.  (Today's top ten) In my op

" Indianapolis Race Review"

What an interesting day! The Nascar Cup Series visited the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway Road Course; located in Indianapolis, Indiana for the “ Verizon 200 at the Brickyard”. In an upset alert A.J. Allmendinger wins the prestigious Brickyard 400. This is his 1st of the season and second of his career. ( Allmendinger taking the checkered flag) Today was wild. From wrecks, track changes, to uncertainty and a brand new race track to the yearly schedule, this race weekend screamed chaos. That is what I’d described today. With numerous cautions throughout the race and most coming in the closing laps, today was a demolition derby. Nascar’s officiating today was terrible, cautions could have been avoided easily. But Nascar let the drivers race, until the big one happened. You couldn’t look away from your TV today without something happening, that describes this afternoon. It’s wildly entertaining, but not good for the owners or race teams. In these images below you can see what led to

" Watkins Glen Race Review"

Watkins Glen! The Nascar Cup Series visited Watkins Glen International, for the “Go Bowling at the Glen”, in Watkins Glen, New York. Kyle Larson takes home the win after a two week break for the Olympics. This is his 5th win of the 2021 season and his 11th of his career. Making the regular season championship against Denny Hamlin even closer. (Larson standing with the trophy in victory lane) Today was interesting to say the least. Covid 19 stopped 2020’s race at Watkins Glen due to a surge in New York. But today was a breath of fresh air for many. Not being at a track since 2019 and finally seeing a race at this venue is pretty special. Today’s action involves a lot. Wrecks, threatening rain all weekend, pit strategy and upset drivers.  (Kyle Larson in Victory Lane ) This all unfolded under 90 laps. In my opinion Today’s race was above Average. Most of this answer comes from the fact fans haven’t seen a race at Watkins Glen since 2019. The racing product itself was avera
